It's been awhile...
So, I've been out of the loop the past several weeks with a move to La Crosse, WI and all the insanity that follows migrating a family of 3 (+1 brother-in-law) 500 miles. I have been getting into some new stuff though, and here's my starter list for new things of 2010.
Web Fonts:
Patrick has finally done it - we're moving to TypeKit and trying to improve typographic treatments to improve the look and feel of our sites. It was bound to happen, he's a type-guy and I don't question his judgement on design stuff (for good reason).
(More) Mobile Development:
This was my goal last year, but got back-burnered with everything else going on. It's not that a HAVEN'T done m-dev, I just really haven't delved into enough for it to be second-nature like jQuery, PHP, or CSS. It really needs to be part of my toolkit in this day-and-age.
Apache & .htaccess:
I've worked with Apache for some time now, but usually on a grid or shared environment. I can't stand just using something - I need to know the inner workings and how to tweak it, so I've built a seperate system dedicated to this task. Just recently started working with mod_rewrite and .htaccess (thank jeebus I'm finally getting off the Windows servers for the most part) and I want to tie that into my studies of the most widely used web server platform.
Organization:
Since the move I've been on an organization kick - I cleaned out a lot of useless old crap in my life and I want to start fresh. I'm cleaning up my email, documents, and even exploring new tools to help me link the things I need to do with actually doing them.
So, I know it's a little unusual to see new year's goals the 1st of Feb., but I'm grateful I took a month to reflect on where I was, make a change in my life, and get things back on track. Oh, and for anyone who's looking for more code/plugins/etc. I'm also planning on revamping and focusing more on my contributions.
